Leed® -- Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design

The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders from every sector of the building industry working to promote buildings that are environmentally responsible, profitable and healthy places to live and work.

They have developed the LEED® Green Building Rating System™ developed the as nationally accepted benchmark for building and construction, design and function of environmentally friendly green buildings. The System demonstrates the established standards for a number of different building categories.
